When The Ressurected Jesus Doesn’t Show

Have you been there?  Almost everyone around you is praising God because of some great blessing and you feel skipped over.  All your friends are in blissful relationships while you keep getting rejected.  You have been dealing with sickness for years and your friends were healed after a week.  Your church is in the middle of a spiritual revival but you can’t bring yourself to clap during worship.  Everyone else is living like Jesus rose from the dead but it sure seems like he didn’t, at least … [Read more...]

Your Kindgom Come. Your Will be Done.

Your Kindgom Come. You Will Be Done.

This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)   Kingdom Come Jesus’ kingdom is complicated, yet simple. His rule is not yet realized, yet it is fully established. When Jesus came into the world, the … [Read more...]

Love Me for Me and Not For What I Do.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8 There is a significant lack of character that represents Jesus in the church today and that is the value of people instead of the value of ministry.  We have lost touch with what it is to value a person no matter what they do or don’t do and instead we have started to value people only for what they do in our churches.  But … [Read more...]

The Presence of Fear – The Pursuit of Peace

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. John 14:27  Really? "A real Christian would not be afraid or have fear."  I listened quietly as the person to whom I was speaking uttered this statement. Many times in Scripture we are told "Do not fear" or "Do not be afraid." Jesus KNEW that we would struggle with fear -- it is part of that 'flesh' we deal with this side of eternity … [Read more...]

A Horrible Blessing

the soul remains

I want to apologize for not getting something written for a while.  I want you to know I haven’t forgotten about you and honestly, I miss writing when life pulls me away from it.  It is therapeutic for me to write and it stirs in me something I never can quite put my finger on but I just know that when I pour out, somehow I am filled up. How about you?  Do you have something that makes you feel that way?  Can you pour out something to others and then feel so filled up?  I hope so!  It will be … [Read more...]

True Peace

John 14:27 (NIV84) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Just like everything else this world offers us, it is the opposite of what God has to offer us. Our enemy the devil has his own versions that are very good imitations of the things God wants to give us. The enemy works really hard to get us to spend all of our time chasing after these counterfeits instead of seeking the real … [Read more...]

Do We Really Need to Tithe?

Christians had always believed in tithing. In today's day and age, it is surprising to note that a lot of non-Christians also comply to tithing. (They do so by giving donations to different charities.) Tithing is getting its fair share of attention from both Christian and non-Christian communities. But still, a lot of us still do not quite grasp the importance and significance of it in our lives. Why do we need to tithe? One of the greatest signs of our surrender to God is through … [Read more...]

Ten Newlywed Notes

My husband and I have been married for four and a half months. We are learning each other and what God meant for marriage to look like. I have written just a few things that I have learned and am still learning as a wife... I hope and pray that I can encourage you by how God is working in our marriage! Sometimes you will be wrong. Admit it and ask for forgiveness... the first time. Kiss and make up. Harboring pride in your heart only creates division. Let go of every impossible expectation … [Read more...]

Run With Me?

I love running. I really do. But, it's winter and I hadn't stepped into my running shoes and hit the road since those 70 degree weather days. Until yesterday. My sweetness of a husband and I were visiting his family yesterday and the weather was a brisk and sunny 55°. We decided to get outside and enjoy the weather! We started out the driveway and up a steep hill. And so it began. This wasn't going to be a lovely little stroll. Who knew that a simple hill would be such a workout? My little … [Read more...]

extra-milling: the untold version of joseph’s tale

One of my favorite authors is Malcolm Gladwell. He is a terrific writer and I just love the way he writes his stuff. I recently stumbled upon his latest work I believe, which is David and Goliath and having read just the introductory chapter, I was amazed once again how he brought me to see another perspective on the famous bible tale of the dwarf who slayed the giant. I’ll be doing something similar to that today with the story of Joseph of the bible; the young Hebrew boy who went to a … [Read more...]
